Other screens

Hey,

I've been doing some research on some lower cost alternatives than the prebuilt optics, and found that some of the cheaper stuff uses an spi interface and I wondered if a screen with a beam splitter would work without any other lenses or would I need a fresnel lens? (or any other lens)

link to the display im thinking about:

also Ive been looking for development boards other than the pi zero so i can run some more advanced stuff like face recognition and just having extra power for the future, anyway i found some other sbcs like lattepanda or orangepi, would it be worthwhile getting a more powerful one or not?

I don't have a concern with power as i have a load of lipos that i can regulate down to 12v or 5v (also they work as portable chargers as well)

thanks

Hi, Just wondering whether this would work with the Pi Zero version of the spy camera - that way, no need to use adapter?

I know the Pi Zero can be easily powered by just about any USB 5V power bank, but does anyone have any solutions they are particularly happy with? This goes on your face and USB cables and connectors aren't exactly known for their high flexibility. I wouldn't want the whole power solution to be awkward or tug on things, that kind of makes a comfy head mounted computer awkward itself if it does. What are people who have actually used it most happy with? The openeyetap design is really nice but I worry about the practical side of needing to tether it to a chunky or handheld power bank.

The EyeTap team ultimately chose to integrate the flex spy camera as our camera of choice. The two main options are shown above: the flex spy camera and the usb spy camera. Here are some key differences between both hardware components. Flex Spy Camera -Price: 39.95$ -Static Image: 2592 x 1944 pixel -Video Resolution: 1080p30, 720p60 and 640x480p60/90 -Connection: CSI bus in addition to the Raspberry Pi Camera Conversion Board and the Raspberry Pi Spy Cam to Raspberry Pi Zero Flex USB Spy Camera -Price: 12.50$ -Static Image: 2592 x 1944 pixel -Video Resolution: 640x480 -Connection: USB to the Raspberry Pi Zero Wifi We believe that for augmented reality applications, the 27.45$ is justified to increase the resolution of the experience. It also complicates the connection to the Raspberry Pi Zero Wifi as both a flex connector and an adapter board are needed. You are nonetheless welcome to build your own EyeTap with the USB spy camera to cut down on costs. With the EyeTap, the world is your oyster! We are always open to hearing feedback and learning about better designs! Cheers
